He considered informing her that the desperation in her laugh made his balls choke violently and shrivel up like salted slugs, but didn't want to risk an onslaught of the hyena hysterics that such an announcement would certainly elicit. Instead, he focused on the word Ahimsa, rolling it around in his head, wringing out the syllables, drawing them out, silently yodeling them until the sounds no longer conjured up images of shuffling servants softly calling their master.

Okay, we've reached official procrastinated-panic levels here. With a little more than a month left until the New Year and more than 100 (!!) dkmon to go, I am actually entertaining thoughts of getting a wig for my impending Britney move. But for dignity's sake, I will put up a grand effort in the remaining days to get back in this game. Last legging it:

i'll be city-hopping for the next two, three weeks and despite not knowing exactly where i'll be on any given day, i will try to keep up to date with dkmons.

My hope is that images representing these quantities might have a different effect than the raw numbers alone, such as we find daily in articles and books. Statistics can feel abstract and anesthetizing, making it difficult to connect with and make meaning of 3.6 million SUV sales in one year, for example, or 2.3 million Americans in prison, or 426,000 cell phones retired every day. This project visually examines these vast and bizarre measures of our society, in large intricately detailed prints assembled from thousands of smaller photographs.
